Single Vineyard ‘’Agios’’
tasting characteristics
Bright, clear, splendid ruby color.
Juicy, intense, and clear nose, typical Xinomavro. Youthful and lively aromas of small red berries, cherries, strawberries, cranberries, pomegranate. Sweet spices and peppery. Rose petals and hints of dried tomatoes. Excellent nose balance.
Very juicy palate. Dry, with excellent acidity and great balance. Medium to full body. The purity of succulent fruit. Silky and perfectly balanced. Refined fine velvety tannins and terrific freshness.
Intense, long, and fresh with a slightly spicy finish.
VARIETAL COMPOSITION: Xinomavro 85% - Syrah 15%
VINTAGE: 2019
REGION: Amyndeon plateau. Amyndeon viticulture zone.
VINEYARD: 30ha single block vineyard situated at an altitude of 625m.
SOIL: Sandy, sandy-clay over limestone with excellent drainage.
CLIMATE: Semi continental climate, with cold winters, with substantial rain and snowfalls, and cool, relatively dry summers.
VINEGROWING METHOD: Sustainable viticulture with zero use of herbicides. Double cordon, grafted rootstock. Application of Regulated Deficit Irrigation (R.D.I.). Application of Precision Viticulture.
HARVEST: Manual harvest in small picking baskets with a maximum of 15 kilos.
YIELD: 32 HL/ha, post to green harvest & selection.
DENSITY OF PLANTATION: 3.700 shoots/ha.
VINIFICATION METHOD: Destemming, light crushing, cold soak - skin contact, alcoholic fermentation at gradually increasing temperatures, maintenance of wine ‘’sur lies’’ for eight months with regular stirring.
AGEING: 12 months in Allier oak casks and 12 months in bottle.
DEGREE DAYS: 1.788,90 April - September.
TOTAL PRECIPITATION: 252,80mm. April – September.
ANALYTICAL DATA: Alcohol: 12,53% vol. Titratable Acidity: 5,52 g/l. Residual Sugar: 1,10 g/l. pH: 3,55.
